Paintings

At this moment Martin is working on a series of oil paintings based on the sketches shown on the "drawings-page".

The original sketches were scanned into the computer in order to do some digital colour studies. Using his new digitizer board that he got as a present from some of his close friends, Martin discovered a fascinating new art form. Blown away by these new possibilities he experimented with colour variations in order to get the general idea for the final paintings. As usual he didn't stop at that. Instead he played his way around his keyboard, mouse and sketching pad until what started out as a study, turned into the creation of a couple of complete digital artworks. Although digital and without the strong smell of turpentine and oils, with these studies he now has a firm grip on what the original paintings should look like.

Prints on canvas from these studies will be made available for sale and if he can be drawn away from his new friend the digitizer board the results of his works in oil paint will be displayed on this page in time.

In the meantime again Martin is trying to figure out where the fine line runs between a real painting and digital art. For those of you that know him the answer is already clear: "there is no line, not even a fine one". Just don't tell him yet, it would spoil the fun.
