On steady stone

The faun is a mythological creature. He lives in the forest and enjoys the simple pleasures of life. Eating, drinking, dancing, singing but above all having fun. He lives one day at a time and can not be bothered with plans for the future. Enjoying what comes in his path, uncomplicated and carefree. The title of this drawing refers to his ability to live in the moment, one with nature in complete harmony.

A better place

Don't we all know that feeling of longing to be some place else. Some place nice with not a worry in the world. New opportunities and possibilities. This mermaid is dreaming of such a place. She envisions the things she longs for in the ball resting in her hands. Our dreams are like that ball, turned by our fingertips reflecting all our wishes. The mermaid is drifting steadily in the water kept in balance by the unconscious movement of her tail. The water is familiar it's the place where she was born and this enables her to float so freely. A wonderful and safe place to dream.

Never kill what you fight for

The longing to have something can be so strong that you are willing to fight for it. This is the moment to be very careful because every battle not only has a winner but a loser as well and more often than not even more things get lost in the heat of the fight. This harpy was so consumed by her determination to possess her great love that although she won the fight at the same time she lost her love. As it turned out the man she longed for so much fell victim to the battling claws of her and her opponents. Although some things are surely worth fighting for, most of the time its better to fight against your own impatience and let things come your way as they may.

Just a little something

The story of Pandora in Greek mythology resembles the biblical story of Eve. Pandora was given a box (the original tales speak about two vases though) and she was asked to guard this treasure. Eventually her sense of responsibility gave way to her growing curiosity. And by opening the box she released all the things that brought trouble in our lives. What this story is trying to tell us is that gathering knowledge can face us with great dilemmas. As humans we have the ability to search for the meaning of things, Yet curtain things are better left unexplored. We will simply have to accept the laws of nature by which our lives are ruled as well.

Still living in Atlantis

Atlantis was a group of islands that has been wiped away according to old legends. Remainders of this ancient land are believed to still lay deep in the ocean somewhere. The legend tells us that all inhabitants died during the great flood. The Atlantic ocean got his name from this mythical event. When our circumstances change dramatically it is of the utmost importance that we try to be flexible and play with the winds of change. The figure in this drawing, once a citizen of the old islands was miraculously able to adapt to his changing surroundings and therefore is still living deep in the ocean somewhere.

Trust against the storms of reason

This drawing is about those moments when you would like to act on an unexplainable strong inner sense. At the same time reason often takes control and utters an overwhelming stream of contradicting arguments. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just stop this interference if only for a little while? This angel is the symbol of the force you need to defend your intuition against the attack of reason. His sword pins down the pages with fear filled arguments and his wings provide shelter from the rushing storms. Everyone needs an angel like this. His name is “Trust”.

Born to fly

We all are born with our special talents. Of course there is a lot to be learned from that moment onwards and so we do. Learning, learning and learning. Most of the time we act on what we've learned and behave accordingly. But to truly be happy we also have to learn to trust on our intuitions and talents. To most people that is not as easy as it sounds. But once you gathered up the courage to be what you are and dare to trust on you natural abilities you can really be free and leave your nest to shape your own life.
